Check the Battery size
Only that battery could be fitted on your car which can be placed on a base plate within the engine bay. No doubt batteries come in the variety of sizes, but replace it with the one that can be perfectly and firmly fitted on the base plate. There should not be any space left for it to get shaken up when the car jostles. So the battery size should be as per the size of the base plate.

You would have a car battery as per the type and model of the car you own and the purpose for which you use the car for. As per the data, a dead battery is the number one issue behind breakdown service requests by car owners. If you have a dead battery, first step is to buy the correct replacement battery . We recommend getting an authorized car specific battery. Refer to the car’s owner’s manual for the exact battery specifications.

Here is how to disconnect a car battery and install a new battery.

  • SAFETY:  Use proper handling and safety procedures when working with car batteries. Pull your gear together – safety goggles, gloves, wrench, sockets, lint free rags and owner’s manual.Shut the car engine with parking brakes on.
  • LOCATE THE BATTERY:  Check your vehicle owner's manual for the your car battery’s location for unhooking.
  • LOCATE THE TERMINALS: Identify the positive and negative posts and the respective cables attached to each. The positive terminal will be in red and have a + sign while the negative will have a minus sign and is black.
  • NEGATIVE FIRST: Using a wrench, loosen the nut or bolt that secures the negative battery cable to the negative battery post. Remove the negative battery cable from the battery terminal post and move it away from the battery. Next, loosen the nut or bolt that secures the positive battery cable to the positive battery post. Remove the positive battery cable from the battery terminal post and move it away from the battery.
  • REMOVE THE OLD BATTERY:  batteries are heavy and weigh upto 15kgs, thus you need to pull it our safely after carefully loosening from the battery holder.
  • PUT IN NEW BATTERY:  Clean the terminals of the new battery and the cables completely. Place the new battery in the battery holder and fasten it to its place. Make sure the terminal match the cables. This time, connect the positive terminal first followed by the negative terminal. Apply battery grease on the terminals.
